Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to Al-Moathen El-Chinguiti, a mobile Islamic application that provides prayer times, adhan and reminders, Qibla direction, the Holy Qur’an, adhkar, tasbih, educational cards, and general Islamic utility sections.

The application is created, developed, and owned by El Ougl Software SARL. This policy explains what data the app may handle, why it is used, where it is stored, and how users can control it.

1. General principle

Al-Moathen El-Chinguiti is designed to work as locally as possible on the user’s device. The app does not require an account and does not ask the user to enter a name or email address to use its core features.

We do not sell user data, rent it, or use it for personalized advertising. The current version of the app does not include an internal account system, advertising system, Firebase Analytics, or developer-operated user tracking.

2. Data the app may handle

a. Location data

The app may request approximate or precise location permission in order to determine the user’s city or nearby location, calculate prayer times, determine Qibla direction, and improve the accuracy of prayer-related reminders.

The app does not use location to track the user, and it does not monitor the user’s movements in the background. Location is requested only when a feature requiring it is used, such as detecting the current location, updating the city, calculating prayer times, or using Qibla.

If the user selects a city manually, location permission may not be required. The user can revoke location permission at any time from the device settings.

b. City, language, and app settings

The app stores some settings locally on the user’s device so that the app can work according to the user’s preferences.

These settings are stored on the device and are used to personalize the app experience. They are not a user account held by the company.

c. Adhan and notification data

The app uses notification settings to schedule prayer reminders, play the adhan or selected reminder sound, reschedule reminders after device restart or app update, and enable or disable vibration or silent behavior according to the user’s settings.

The app may use notification permission, exact alarm permission, vibration, boot receiver, and a foreground media playback service while the adhan or reminder sound is playing, so that prayer reminders can be delivered at the intended time.

The user can disable notifications or change related permissions from the app settings or the operating system settings.

d. Sounds and local media choices

The app may allow the user to choose an adhan or reminder sound from the sounds available in the app, or use a custom sound option if supported. These choices are used only to play the selected reminder. The app does not record the user’s voice and does not use the microphone.

e. Prayer-time updates through the Internet

The app can calculate prayer times locally. It may also allow updating prayer times through an external prayer-time service, such as AlAdhan, when the user requests online update or uses a feature that depends on it.

When online update is used, technical data needed to obtain prayer times may be sent to the external service, such as latitude, longitude, selected city, calculation method, month, year, or related calculation parameters. This is used only to retrieve prayer times for the chosen location.

External services are governed by their own policies and terms.

f. Qur’an and Islamic content

The app includes Qur’anic text, adhkar, supplications, fiqh cards, etiquette and virtue cards, and general Islamic content. This content is included in the app or its local resources and does not require the user to send personal data.

The Qur’an font and Qur’an display system are independent from the general interface font settings. Changing the app interface font does not change the Mushaf font unless a specific Qur’an setting is provided for that purpose.

g. Contact data

If the user contacts us by email or through an external contact form, we may process the information the user voluntarily sends, such as name, email address, subject, message text, and any attached information.

This data is used to respond to support requests, reports, and suggestions. Users should avoid sending sensitive or unnecessary personal information.

5. Local storage

The app relies on local storage on the user’s device to save settings and preferences. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data from the operating system settings normally deletes this local data.

Some data may remain in device backups if backup features are enabled by the user in the operating system. Such backups are controlled by the device and the user’s account settings, not by El Ougl Software SARL.

6. Sharing data with third parties

We do not share personal data for sale or advertising. Limited interaction with third parties may occur when the user updates prayer times through an external service, contacts us through email or a form provider, or opens external links from the app.

Any data received by an external service is governed by that service’s own privacy policy and terms.

7. App permissions

Depending on the device version and features used, the app may request permissions such as approximate or precise location, notifications, exact alarms, vibration, running after device restart, foreground media playback, and Internet access.

Disabling some permissions may prevent the related feature from working correctly.

8. Accuracy of prayer times and reminders

The app makes reasonable efforts to calculate and display prayer times according to the selected settings. However, accuracy may be affected by the selected city, calculation method, high-latitude settings, time zone, device settings, battery restrictions, and operating system limits on reminders.

Users should compare prayer times with trusted local Islamic authorities when necessary, especially in countries or regions that rely on official calendars or specific calculation methods.

9. Data security

We use reasonable measures to protect the data handled by the app, especially because most settings are stored locally on the user’s device. However, no digital system can guarantee absolute security.

Users are responsible for protecting their devices, keeping the operating system updated, and granting permissions only when needed.

10. Children

The app is intended for general religious and educational use and is not designed to collect personal data from children. If children use the app, it should be under the supervision of a parent or guardian, especially when granting location or notification permissions.

We may update this Privacy Policy when features change, technical requirements change, or legal requirements require an update. The updated version will be published on the official privacy-policy page for the app.
